Festival of Youth Sport

We were represented by two teams of Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 children at the South Gloucestershire Festival of Youth Sport at the WISE campus. Before the event started there was a run by the top 24 Year 6 runners in the authority. We have 6 of these in school unfortunately, only 2 could make it. However, Joe Mead stormed ahead of those taking part winning by 200 metres! Fantastic run by Joe and Isaac who came fifth. After that there was a parade of athletes from the different schools across the authority. Each school is given a country to symbolically represent and this year we were given Aruba. The children paraded around the track waving their flags from Aruba.

The chosen sport for us this year was tag rugby. The two teams were really eager to get playing. The Year 5 and 6 team won their first match 4 tries to 3. They then lost their second match again with a very close score. Before taking on their final match which again was lost in the last minute. The Year 3 and 4 team had very similar results winning one and losing two very close matches. Very well done to both teams for playing with such great sportsmanship and teamwork despite only playing the games for such a short period of time before the festival. Thanks to Miss Moore, Mr Evens, who had coached the children over the past few weeks, and the parents for coming along to support the children.
