Festival of Youth Sport 2017

We were represented by two teams of Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 children at the South Gloucestershire Festival of Youth Sport at the WISE campus. To start the events there was running display and Mollie Wiltshire, from Year 6 took part as one of the fastest South Gloucestershire runners. This was followed by a parade of athletes from the different schools across the authority. Each school is given a country to symbolically represent and this year we were given Peru.

The chosen sport for us this year was tag rugby and basketball. The two teams were really eager to get playing. Unfortunately, in the basketball the Year 5 and 6 team lost their three matches. They did play well against some tough opposition and showed skill and determination not to give up. The Year 3 and 4 team played very well too and won all but one of their group games meaning they topped the group and went straight into the final. Charlie Boorman was the star player scoring the majority of the tries. It was a tense final which the team won handsomely. What a fantastic achievement. Very well done to both teams for playing with such great sportsmanship and teamwork despite only playing the games for such a short period of time before the festival. Thanks to Miss Moore, Mr Evens and the parents for coming along to support the children.
