Sports Day 2013

We had our KS2 Sports only as the rain put pay to KS1! Everyone tried their best to put the bean bags in the hoops, jump in the sack race, stay steady with their balls and spoons and then run as fast as they could in the sprint. The children showed true determination and perseverance as they ran, or in some cases charged, down the lanes to the finish line.

All of the parents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon cheered for each race and willing the children on to do well. At the end of the afternoon we had our winners who were once again Water with an impressive 201 points, followed by Sun on 169, Earth with 97 and Air with 92 points. A great effort by everyone!

We also held highly contested parents races although this year we went for the safe option of egg and spoon races. This was followed by a teacher’s race.

There were many cheering family and friends willing the children on. It was so good to see their enthusiasm, determination and for some the perseverance of completing the race.

In KS1 it was also lovely to see the other children encouraging and cheering their classmates and friends on to do well, or saying well done and helping each other. That is the kind of support, sportsmanship and spirit we saw on both days. After all the races had been completed all of the points were collated and the trophy awarded to the winners who this year were Earth with 121 points followed by Water with 97, Sun with 79 and Air with 78.

Once again there were many entrants in the toddler races and then the parents’ egg and spoon race. The morning was rounded off with a teachers’ race as well. Thank you to all parents for coming along to the morning as well as the staff for organising such a slick and enjoyable event.
