Cross Country League

CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING – Almondsbury is now part of a cross country league within South Gloucestershire. It will meet three times during the year and we will be organizing and hosting the event in the summer term. The first meeting was just before half term in Yate. We sent a strong team of 6 boys and 6 girls from Years 5 and 6. As usual the children ran very well and showed how string cross country running is at Almondsbury. We had 4 out of the 6 girls in the top 20 and 5 out of the boys (from a field of 60). Special mention to Sam Taylor, Jack Broadhurst, Joe Mead, Thea Clarke and Libby Keel who all came in the top 10. At this point we are leading the boys’ league with 38 points (16 points ahead of our nearest rivals) and are second by just one point in the girls (but leading third place by 36 points). Well done Team Almondsbury and thank you to the four parents who train them so very well on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We also had 6 children who ran for South Gloucestershire at an inter-county competition. They all did themselves proud with terrific runs in very difficult conditions.
