International Week 2014

INTERNATIONAL WEEK – We had a great week just before Easter with all of the children thoroughly enjoying the International week activities. It was good to see all the children in the colours of the flags at the start of the week ready to take off with Almondsbury Airlines.

All of the children have learnt a lot about the country they have been concentrating on. I witnessed the singing of Head’s, Shoulders, Knees and toes in three different languages, French, German and Japanese, all in the space of 30 minutes. The children also had the opportunity to cook dishes from their chosen country including a Bush tucker trial, learn a dance, song, simple greetings and other phrases, artwork and many other aspects of that country’s culture. There were lots of different dishes on the menu during the week cooked by Mrs Vining as well as a 'Bush Tucker Trial' for Mr Baykaa-Murray's class.

Thank you to the staff for making the week so enjoyable but especially Mrs Goode for organising it all with Mrs Hurley. Thank you to the many parents who came to look around the ‘International Fayre’ on Friday afternoon to see what the children had been doing all week. Hopefully the experiences will stay with the children for a long time as well as the things they have learnt.
