Festival of Youth Sport

We were represented by two teams of Year 3 and 4 children at the South Gloucestershire Festival of Youth Sport at the WISE campus. Before the event started there was an exhibition run by the top Year 6 runners in South Gloucestershire. Three of our children were asked to race Sam Taylor, Jack Broadhurst and Libby Keel. They all ran really well and showed how good they are against top opposition. The chosen sport for us this year was Quicksticks hockey. The two teams were really eager to get playing and had mixed starts with the blue team losing (against the eventual winners) and the purple team drawing. Both teams then won their next game comprehensively. With two matches to go the groups were quite evenly balanced. By the end of the group stages the blue team had won one, drawn one and lost two matches (one very closely); and the purple team won three matches and drew one.

This meant that the purple team won their group and progressed to the semi finals against St Michael’s. The team were raring to play and were very good at both attacking and defending winning 2-0. The final beckoned against Marshfield, who were an excellent team beating our valiant team. Very well done to both teams for playing with such great sportsmanship and teamwork despite only playing the games for such a short period of time before the festival. Thanks to Miss Moore and the parents for coming along to support the children.
