'Squiggle While You Wiggle!'

Squiggle while you wiggle is a fun and engaging session that develops and supports gross motor movements to enable the children to become confident mark makers, an essential step on the journey to becoming a writer.

We begin by sitting in a circle singing finger rhymes to warm up our fingers and hands.

We then paint our partners using a sponge to get our hands and wrists moving.

Each week we learn a different gross motor movement and practise making these shapes whilst holding a scarf in each hand in time to music.

Finally we make these marks on paper using a crayon in each hand. We can sit up or lie on our tummies to do this.

We had our first PE lesson as a whole class and practised getting changed by ourselves.

We then explored different ways of moving around the hall - stomping, skipping and walking on tip toes.

We also enjoyed playing parachute games.

We then had a behind the scenes tour of the Tesco store. We had to wear special hats when we went into the bakery, we saw some bread rolls being baked.

We then went into the warehouse and saw the milk in the large fridge and very quickly stood in the really cold freezer!

Week Beginning: 26th September - This week we met all of the children who are going to be in our class. We stayed for lunch in the hall, we have tasted new food and tried really hard to use our knives and forks to eat.

We listened to a story about washing our hands. We put our hands into the handwashing machine, it showed up all of the germs on our hands. We then washed our hands really well with soap and checked our hands in the machine again to see if the germs had disappeared!
