Mr Dean's Class

Wow it is the Spring term already!

We started our new topic, Journey of a Raindrop, on the Wednesday of the first week. During our WOW day we learnt all about bridges and how they are build to withstand heavy weights. We had a go creating bridges on bridge building simulators and then had a go at building our own.

The curriculum jigsaws have been saved to the bottom of the page. These tell you about what we will be covering this term. Please take a look.

We  had a fantastic day in the Egypt Centre in Swansea during the first week of term 2. Please take a look at our photos in the photos section on the left of this page!

Term 2

It seems like just yesterday we started a new school  year.  The first term has flown by and we are ready to start term 2.

We had a very productive first term. We started our topic of Tomb Raider and developed our knowledge and understanding of Ancient Egypt. In maths we have concentrated on place value and addition and have written stories based around Terry Deary's  Gold in the Grave.

Last term we also carried out our class assembly which was very successful. The children spoke loud and clearly and were excellent actors/actresses and dancers.

This term we will continue to  learn about all aspects of Ancient Egypt as we further develop our Tomb Raider topic. Throughout our Maths sessions we will be focusing on subtraction, multiplication and division. We will start our English topic by looking at Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamen and writing newspaper reports about the discovery.

Welcome to a new school year and a new key stage for some children.

In Year 3&4 we have made a great start getting reacquainted with each other having been in different classes last year. The year three children have settled into Key Stage 2 really well and already know their way around. They have been helped by the Year 4 children who have shown great friendship and caring qualities.
