Mr Evens' Class

Welcome to Year 5 and Mr. Evens' Class!

And now... The end is near... And so I face... The final curtain! Term 6 is going to be CRAZY and so busy! The children have matured and progressed so much throughout the year... I'm so pleased! I will miss them when they move to Year 6! However, we still need one final push to reach our goals in Year 5. There's so much going on so be prepared for the incredible journey we will be taking! Again, Mrs Bailey will be our Teaching Assistant.

There's so much going on from now until the end of the school year, including the summer performance. Please keep your eyes peeled on this page for updates.

We welcome two new children to our class. A huge welcome to Gabi and George! Both have settled into Almondsbury life very well and are excellent additions to our class. We hope that you enjoy the journey at our incredible school!

I will up date our class page regularly with information about our topic for the term, important information, homework and dates for your diary. As always, my email address is if you would like to contact me with any concerns. I will endeavour to reply to all messages as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Gavin Evens

Homework is given every Friday and is expected to be handed in the following Friday. The homework given will be alternated between English and maths. The homework set will be around the topic we are covering in class. Please encourage your children to complete as much of the homework as possible. This is not only to reinforce learning from current topic covered in class but an excellent habit for children in preparation for secondary school.

It would also be beneficial for children to read for at least 10 minutes a day too. This would be vital for children to understand how authors create an atmosphere and imagery precise word choices and a variety of sentence structures. Children will find it easier to replicate this and improve their writing as a result.

I would also like to stress that I do take note of children's homework. All homework will be returned to your child in due cause. I would appreciate your support to ensure that homework is handed in on time. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you are in Mrs. Goode's English class or Mr. Baykaa-Murray's maths class, please check their class pages for information about homework.
