Mrs Goode's Class

Easter Homework

With Easter being so late this year, we only have two weeks after the break brefore the SATs. As this is slightly shorter than we would like, we have set some additional homework for the children to complete over the Easter holidays to ensure that we don't have too much of an Easter 'slump' after returning to school.  All of the children have worked SO hard this term and made incredible progress - we would really like to keep this momentum going so that all of their hard work pays off for them during SATs week.

With this in mind, we have uploaded a new resource to the class webpages named Ten-for-Ten. These are 10 minute activities that the children can use to practise their reasoning and arithmetic over the holiday: there are 10 sessions of both types of task. These can either be printed or the children can simply read the questions from the screen and do their working out on paper

We have also left the KS2 SATs Organiser PDF with the Youtube video links here for the children to use. Remember that this can be accessed from any type of device so it's great for keeping them entertained on long car journeys etc!

Both of the resources above are optional: we will not be collecting these in to mark, unless the children specically want us to, so please feel free to use them as much or as little as is suitable to fit in with your Easter plans.

The main homework task is a Maths Dictionary, details of which can be found in the attachments below.

Many thanks and Happy Easter!

Flapjack Success!

Thank you so much to all of the adults who were able to volunteer to help with our chocolate projects this term. The children worked so hard to design, make and evaluate their snack bars and had some fantastic ideas on how to market them too. We definitely have some entrepreneurs in the making in Year 6!

The winners of the competition were Ella, Holly and Charlotte with their company Flappy Jacky Dream. Their flapjack will be served to the whole school as pudding next week. Second prize in our class then went to Harry, Jonah and Ben with their seeded flapjack.

All groups put in a wonderful effort - well done everyone!

Trip to the Imperial War Museum

Well, we had more of an adventure than we were expecting on our trip last week! After 6.5 hours on the coach, we finally made it to the museum! Despite it being such a flying visit, the children had a fantastic time. They were able to explore the World War One Galleries and even experienced what life would have been like in a trench.

We are so proud of how well behaved the children were throughout the day, even when we got caught in traffic again on the way home! They were a credit to the school and themselves - it was a pleasure to spend the day with them.

Also, a huge thank you to our parent volunteers who gave up their time. Be sure to look at our photos by clicking on the tab on the side of this page.
