Are you in your university final year, just graduated or thinking about a career change? Then why not think about Getting into Teaching? It is a most rewarding and fulfilling profession. Interested and want to find out more?

Come along to our PGCE drop-in sessions and find out more about how you could take your first steps towards becoming a teacher. These are on Thursday 24 November from 1.30pm. They are being held at Almondsbury CE Primary School, Sundays Hill, Almondsbury, BS32 4DS. We are the lead school in a Schools Direct partnership.

Severnside Learning Partnership is a cluster of 6 schools based within the Severnside area of South Gloucestershire and into Hambrook and Winterbourne. We all have very close links to the motorway network and are within easy reach of the centre of Bristol, Bath and Gloucester. All of the schools are deemed to be ‘Good’ schools by Ofsted in their most recent inspections. Most of the schools are Church of England schools.

The lead school led by the Headteacher Paul Smith and ITT specialist Katie Goode. The other five schools within the partnership are:

Hambrook Primary School (BS16 1SJ) www.hambrook-pri.s-gloucs.sch.uk/website

Olveston CE Primary School (BS35 4DB) www.olvestonschool.co.uk

St Helen’s CE Primary School (BS35 2QX) www.sthelensprimaryalveston.org.uk/

St Michael’s CE Primary School (Winterbourne BS36 1LG) www.stmichaelswinterbourne.co.uk

St Peter’s Anglican and Methodist School (BS35 4JG) www.stpetersprimary.co.uk/

This cluster of schools work together to ensure a seamless education for children within the primary age. Committed to educational excellence this successful partnership organises joint professional development, inter school activities and rich curriculum experiences including sport, arts, drama, engineering and enrichment. Sharing an ethos which places the child at the heart of their decision making, each school maintains its own unique character and distinctiveness. Our partnership enables us to grow, developing relationships and unity to face the challenges of a changing educational and wider world.

The lead school and partner schools have had a long history of providing positive experiences for student placements with a variety of ITT partners such as UWE and Bath Spa. These have been very successful as the staff within each school have many years of experience in supporting students. The lead school also has on staff a current UWE student practice tutor. We have a strong partnership with our ITE provider with links that allow us to develop our practice as a school further as well.  The staff are experienced in providing excellent support and tutelage to ensure their placements are the best possible experiences.  Each student who has attended placements have found that they have further developed their knowledge and understanding in concrete practical ways that have informed their practice beyond that they would have received within other schools.

If you would like more information please look on the Almondsbury CE Primary School website : www.almondsburyprimary.co.uk or contact the school at office@almondsburyprimary.co.uk or ring 01454 612517.

We look forward to meeting you and aiding your journey to be the best teacher you can be.
