We watched the Numberblocks episode ‘eighteen’...

18 is another rectangle number! We recapped that a rectangle number is called an array. When numbers are arranged in rows and columns we call them arrays. Remember the rows and columns have to be equal!
Look at 18 in different arrays and discuss the rows and columns. They are all the number 18.
18 is another teen number. It is made of a 10 and an 8. 10 + 8 = 18.
We made the number 18 using tens frame, Numicon, cubes, woodlice, a numberline and part, part whole. We practised writing the number 18 using chalk outside and drew 18 things!

We used a numberline to count forwards to 18 and back to 0 in different voices.
We watched the Numberblocks episode ‘Loop the Loop’...

We recapped which numbers make rectangle shapes and practised making 18 using the playdough mat.

We watched the Numberblocks episode ‘Nineteen’...

We discussed its place value and where to find it on the number line. We practised counting forwards to 19 and backwards to 0. We made the number 19 using a variety of Maths resources.
In the episode, 19 was unable to make a rectangle shape. Instead, they made crazy shapes. Can you remember any they made? Count out 19 cubes and make your own ‘crazy 19 shape’!

Revisit the number 19 and how to write the digit 1 and the digit 9. Make the number 19 with playdough using the playdough mats. Can you make 19 lily pads for frogs?
