Welcome to Year 2!

This term our topic is called 'Out and About in Almondsbury'

We will be focussing on the local area and looking at how a village is different to towns and cities. We will be going out and exploring the village developing our fieldwork and map skills at the same time. 

We will also look at the history of Almondsbury and discussing how the village has changed over time and why this might be. 

 

Our PE days will be Tuesday this term and Thursday this term

READING BOOKS

The children will continue to bring their bookbags in on Tuesdays. We ask that children try to read at least 4 times per week at home and that this is recorded in their reading records. 

We will also go to the library on Tuesdays, so the children can bring their Library book in as well to change if they would like.

ENGLISH

We will be starting off this term by looking at the exciting adventure story 'Traction Man'

.

MATHS

This term we will be learning about the place value of numbers up to 100 and starting to use different representations to show numbers.

 

SCIENCE

This term our topics is all about 'Living things and their habitats'

We will be looking at how different animals create their own habitats and we will be exploring the local area conducting investigations about this. We will also look at how animals are part of food chains and how they survive in the wild.

 

 

Our Collective Worship theme for this term is 'Generosity'.

Our Heartsmart focus is 'Be HeartSmart' which teaches the children about the power they hold in being able to help others and look out for each other.
