Welcome back to school!

Year 1/2 Polar Regions Wow Day - Wednesday 10th March

Timings

Our class will continue to follow these times:

Start of day: 8.45am (entering through the cloakroom door in the Key Stage 1 playground)

End of the day: 3:05pm (leaving also, through the cloakroom door in the Key Stage 1 playground)

PE

Our class PE days will continue to be on Thursdays and Fridays.  Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on those days.  PE will always take place outdoors so please provide them with suitable clothing for whatever weather conditions we may face!

FOREST SKILLS

Forest Skills wil take place on in term 6 on a Tuesday afternoon.

READING BOOKS

The children will only be required to bring their book bags in on Mondays. This should include their Reading Record and school reading books. These will be changed and sent home the same day. All school reading books will be wiped down and left for 72 hours before another child can take them home. Due to this, we will be limiting the number of books children take home to 2 each week. Please login into Reading Planet, my.risingstars-uk.com, to access more reading books for your child to read. (See letter below for further details) 

PHONICS

We will be continuing to cover the Y1 Curriculum and sound patterns. Please see the attached tab for our phonic lists and homework sheets, we will have having a phonic spelling test every fortnight on a Friday.

ENGLISH

Our unit this term is on instructions. We will be learning about the format and key vocabulary required when reading and writing instructions for different purposes. 

MATHS

Our first unit this term is on place value, this will be followed by a unit on length and measure, and we will be finishing off with a unit on weight and volume.

TOPIC

We will be continuing to learn about  the 'The Polar Regions'. 

SCIENCE

This term our theme is 'Everyday Materials'. This includes learning about different types of materials, what materials objects are made from and which materials are best to use for different purpose.

 

Our collective worship theme for this term is 'Wisdom'.
