We watched the Number Blocks episode 'Four'...

We used connecting cubes to make towers with 4 blocks. We practised splitting our towers in different ways to make 4 (e.g. 3 and 1, 2 and 2). We then used 4 blocks to make a square.

We also had fun cutting out and making our own Numberblock number 4, this is attached below.

On our Maths Mat we looked at items that link to the number four e.g. a square and a rectangle (4 sides & 4 corners), 4 spots on a dice, 4 spots on a domino ( 4 and 0 & 3 and 1 & 2 and 2), the number 4 piece of Numicon, 4 o'clock. We practised representing the number 4 in different ways by drawing 4 dots, 4 lines, 4 crosses, we finally practised writing the numeral 4.

We sorted squares and rectangles of different colour and size into 2 groups. We used real life objects too such as rulers, envelopes, pieces of paper and books. Can you make or find any squares or rectangles at home?
